Peace and conflict expert Staffan de Mistura, a Swedish-Italian top UN diplomat, will share with us lessons learned from his successive assignments in the most volatile trouble-spots of the globe, including Afghanistan, Iraq, Rwanda, Somalia, Sudan, former Yugoslavia, and more recently Syria.

What can be the role of diplomacy in conflict zones ?
How to reform constitutions, organize elections in the most remote and desolate places of the globe, sometimes in the middle of famines and epidemics ?
How to initiate and maintain negotiation process in major conflict areas ?
