H.E Selim Yenel, Turkish ambassador to the EU

With a special focus on things happening in the Ukraine as well as in the Middle East and beyond.

Mr Selim Yenel was born in Istanbul and holds a degree in Political Science from the Ankara University. He starts his career at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He then spends a few years in Paris at the Permanent Representation of Turkey to the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development and later on at the Turkish Embassy in Kabul. From 1988 to 1992, he is Counsellor at the Permanent Representation of Turkey to the United Nations in New York. Then he becomes First Counsellor at the Permanent Delegation of Turkey to the European Economic Community in Brussels. In 1999 he is sent back in Ankara to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as Minister Plenipotentiary at the Deputy Directorate General for European Union Economic Affairs.

After being Ambassador to Austria, he stays two more years as an Ambassador at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Ankara), as a specialist in Bilateral Politic Affairs and Public Diplomacy.

Since 2011 he is Ambassador, Permanent Delegate of Turkey to the EU.
